Position Overview / Scope of Responsibilities: The Structural Designer / Drafter’s main objective is to assist with the production of TJI-Joist layouts referencing the design plans, revising existing joist layouts and helping the technical department meet increasing drawing demands. Principal Responsibilities: Produce joist layouts using Javelin software (training will be provided) Modify existing joist layouts for revisions Generate material lists for layout drawings Scan plans into computer for archive and use, while also downloading and saving plans from electronic links and/or pdf files Manage emails and calls with customers’ and salesmen inquiries Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Education: Working knowledge and experience with Structural design required Knowledge of the construction industry as it relates to single family house building Knowledge of basic computer skills, email, internet, pdf files, directories Ability to read and understand Blueprints Ability to learn new computer programs Strong communication and interpersonal skill Positive mental attitude and concentration, while meeting deadlines Attention to detail and accuracy Patience and understanding Minimum of 1-year Architectural and Building Technology Diploma, or similar work experience in building, architectural, or structural design Compensation: Benefits and RRSP match after 3 months’ probation is successfully completed.
