The teachers will be expected to conduct teaching/learning activities appropriate to the needs of individual learners, courses and the curriculum, keeping attendance records, managing assessments and maintaining student discipline. You will provide accurate and timely assessment and feedback to learners, and maintain assessment records, in line with College policy You will hold a Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject area. The successful applicant will have experience of teaching Mathematics at least to Level 2 and have experience of working with a wide range of learners at different levels. In addition to this you will demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver imaginative and motivational sessions with a clear focus on the needs of the individual learner. Job Description Job Title: Lecturer in Maths Salary: £24,047 - £29,510 per annum Location: Colchester Responsible to: Assistant Head of Maths Line management of other staff: No Hours: 37 hours per week (Term Time Only Contracts Considered) Regulated activity: Yes PURPOSE STATEMENT: To teach Maths within Colchester Institute and contribute to the related cross college quality assurance systems. MAIN TASKS: 1. To conduct teaching/learning activities appropriate to the needs of individual learners, courses and the curriculum, keeping attendance records, managing assessments and maintaining student discipline. 2. To contribute to the development of the curriculum and including creating specialist learning and teaching resources and sharing good practice. 4. To actively promote the College’s programmes, attend open evenings, applicant’s evenings, careers events, school visits and similar marketing and publicity activities. 7. To maintain and extend links with external organisations as appropriate. 8. To participate in the College’s appraisal scheme. 9. To develop and update personal professional expertise in the relevant subject areas. 10. Person Specification – Lecturer in Maths Ref: 19-007 Essential Desirable Qualifications / Training Suitably qualified to level 3 or above in relevant subject specialism. A teaching qualification. Recent relevant CPD relating to subject specialism. QTLS. Knowledge / Experience Experience of teaching mathematics at least to level 2. Experience of working with a wide range of learners at different levels. An understanding of the educational issues relating to the development of mathematics. An understanding of CPD issues relating to the development of mathematics skills in line with the national agenda. An awareness of the importance of Equality and Diversity. An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment. Experience of teaching GCSE. Experience of curriculum development in the area of mathematics. Experience of using ICT as an effective teaching tool. Skills / Abilities Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver imaginative and motivational sessions with a clear focus on the needs of the individual learner. Demonstrate the use of e-learning tools to support learning. Excellent communication skills. Ability to take the initiative to problem solve. Proven organisational skills with a view to producing the necessary paperwork for all required quality processes and meet deadlines. Good general IT skills. A high level of personal drive and energy and a capacity for sustained effort and performance. The ability to take responsibility for own development, actively pursuing learning and development opportunities. Ability to deliver staff development sessions. Special Requirements A flexible approach to working patterns, including a willingness to work some evenings and Saturdays. Willingness to work at different sites as required.
