The Security Unit within the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center is responsible for ensuring the safety of the both the facility and the participants at the Red Hat Amphitheater, Performing Arts Center and Convention Center. Security includes both hard infrastructure and staffing. The Security Supervisor will support the Security Manager by providing proactive, professional support with the day-to-day functions of the security unit. The Supervisor will assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of the security management program which includes strategic security planning and development of operational policies, procedures and standards. Hiring range: $50,000.00 - $62,673.00 (Promotional range may vary) Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Supervises staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, and discipline and termination procedures. Provides oversight of security guard patrol activities. Facilitates the security of the three venues by reducing, mitigating and eliminating hazards; provides accurate and thorough reporting of security-related incidents. Manages and coordinates investigations of asset losses and security incidents. Leads an ongoing employee awareness/asset protection program designed to inform all employees of the various means by which assets are lost and provides an effective mechanism by which employees can timely inform management of the losses or problems concerning loss of assets. Oversees and monitors alarms, door/facility access security, patron safety, adherence with safety procedures and facility rules; provides rule violation warnings; watches for irregularities; sounds alarm and/or contacts first responders as needed during emergencies; works with local law enforcement as needed for external investigations. Monitors access control equipment; identifies and provides notification of equipment issues and/or system failures for corrective action. Serves as the secondary point of contact for the Convention Center's emergency issues; is a member of the Emergency Management Team and assists in leading the Emergency Response Team. Assists in the coordination and variety of semi-annual all staff drills i.e. fire, earthquake, active shooter etc. Assists in the development of cyber security programs in conjunction with the information technology team. Compiles data; prepares and maintains activity logs, reports and related documentation; delivers essential documentation and bank deposits. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Typical Qualifications Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED and three years of related experience. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Business Management, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or related Liberal Arts studies preferred and four years of related experience, with two years of this experience in a supervisory capacity and/or training, established law enforcement agency experience, or combination thereof preferred. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work. Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); and moderate exposure to inadequate lighting and intense noise.
