Job Summary This position exists to plan, develop, organize, implement, supervise, and administer events under limited supervision for the City of Greeley Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department. Enhancing the community's quality of life and its positive local and regional visibility. The incumbent serves as liaison with Weld County Health Department and as consultant to other citywide events and committees building effective alliances with local businesses, non-profit organizations and other City of Greeley Departments. Responsibilities include assisting in the daily operations for the Culture, Parks and Recreation Department through oversight of the operations including selecting, supervising, and scheduling staff; hiring, supervision, and scheduling of hourly/volunteer staff. Coordinating, implementing, budgeting programs, events, creating and contributing to publicizing special events in a fast-paced high-energy environment. Must be able to contribute in weekend and evening events. Experience, Knowledge, Skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent in event planning or related field 1-3 years of previous experience in customer service 1-3 years of event planning Supervisory experience in previous positions Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate with discretion, diplomacy and tact Knowledge of basic budgeting and funding Collaborative and results driven Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Proficient organizational and time management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple assignments Valid driver's license and good driving record Spanish/English bilingual skills desired Essential Functions Be point of contact for matters relating to special events and be able to respond to inquiries. Monitor the handling of budgets. Schedule staff and volunteers Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and render decisions. Must develop a working knowledge of the Department and events Recommend policy surrounding public events, safety, and inclusively relevant to the festivals and events Work Environment and Physical Requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is primarily sedentary in nature however there may be occasion for light to medium lifting of objects, reaching, bending and driving a vehicle, along with variable work days/hours. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is usually performed indoors in a adequately lighted, heated and ventilated area however at times may be required to perform tasks outdoors.
