CLASS SUMMARY: This is the second of six levels in the Transportation series. Incumbents monitor and document information regarding the operation of transit vehicles and provide information to the public regarding transportation services. Responsibilities may include operating a two way radio to give and receive information regarding routes, schedules, and related issues; providing information to the public regarding transportation services; selling bus passes, and making photo I.D.s; opening and closing the transit center; and preparing daily logs and activity reports. ***PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN THROUGH 3/3/2020 OR UNTIL FILLED.*** Example of Duties: TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) Utilizes applicable equipment to monitor the location and movement of transit vehicles. Responds to vehicle and driver emergencies by coordinating re-routes, locating replacement vehicles and drivers, and making necessary contacts to inform and resolve the situation. Sells bus passes. Maintains records and scheduling information. Makes photo I.D.s as necessary. Responds to inquiries or requests for information from citizens and/or other interested parties regarding transportation, route, and/or scheduling polices, procedures, and/or other related information. Opens and closes the transit center. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Typical Qualifications: TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require): High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and one year general office experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
