Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with senior management, the Director fully participates in the communications activities of the organization, supporting a wide range of activities including marketing, corporate, government/public and employee communications, e-communications and event management as part of the overall communication strategy. The Director ensures consistency in communications quality and message from a customer, client brand and product perspective and ensures coordination across all communication and marketing vehicles so that communications are integrated. The Director demonstrates leadership behaviours and actions consistent with Circle of Care’s mission, vision, values and strategic goals. The Director of Communications and Public/Government Relations is equally accountable for the quality performance of the agency. We are looking for: Full time, Permanent Director, Director Communications and Public/Government Relations Salary: Commensurate with experience Responsibilities External Communications & Marketing Accountability Standards: Support, research or write all marketing/communications initiatives including service / product launches, events, website and e-communications, tradeshows, partnerships, marketing collateral, promotions, external copy, company presentations, etc. Ensure communication material is thorough, accurate, complete and error-free. Create and implement innovative messaging strategies for collateral, advertisements, on-line material, articles, etc. to maintain and further develop the organization's brand and market position and to highlight it’s unique partnership with Sinai Health. Develop traditional and online campaigns to support business growth and legislative priorities. Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture and business strategy. Oversee Government Relations/Public Relations and advocacy for the affiliates in the communities we are in. Interface with all stakeholders to solicit feedback and approvals on creative pieces and ensure that feedback is incorporated and creative pieces are error-free. Prepare and engage in Board of Director communications including meeting agenda, working papers and meeting minutes. Coordinate special events including the Annual General Meeting and events identified in the communication and marketing calendar. Establish goals and measure results for communication programs and campaigns. Oversee the development and implementation of strategies to advance the organizations public policy agenda. Work with senior team to understand target audiences for marketing and communication purposes. Coordinate and conduct departmental inventories for all marketing and communications collateral on a regular basis, including maintaining appropriate inventory records and identifying the need to replenish inventory to appropriate senior manager. Support crisis communications, including development of materials related to corporate reputation management, if required. Actively participate on project teams responsible for the preparation of proposals or grant opportunities. Maintain professional and accountable relationships with external communications partners and suppliers. Employee Communications Accountability Standards: In collaboration with the senior team, prepare and implement the annual communication strategy to build awareness, commitment and excitement for Circle of Care’s mission, vision and goals. Working alongside the CEO, research, write, edit and proofread identified / assigned employee communications including presentations, speeches, intranet content and company-wide memos Research, write, edit and produce the quarterly internal & caregiver communications vehicles (i.e. newsletter; e-letter; signage; handouts, etc.) Leverage social media for internal communications initiatives. Support senior team in the development and implementation of employee events, such as town hall meetings, volunteer recognition, all-employee forums, etc., including providing counsel to senior managers on presentation content, proofreading and editing related materials Engage in regular dialogue with senior managers and other employees to maintain an understanding of the current employee communication challenges and requirements Support internal initiatives that build employee excitement around our Circle of Care brand, core businesses, corporate changes and initiatives, launches, and build upon our reputation as a leader in homecare. Management of Relationships with Internal and External Partners Accountability Standards: Lead the communications team and collaborate with, and provide solutions/support to team members and CEO/VPs to achieve strategic goals and objectives. Collaborate and proactively work with external partners, including marketing agencies, customers, and vendors / suppliers. Communicate and support key internal business partners, inclusive of problem solving and troubleshooting support. Provide customer support to internal and external customers. Lead and/or participate on Circle of Care cross-functional project teams to lend skills, competence and job-specific knowledge. Lead by example and demonstrate the organizational values in all personal behaviours. Qualifications University or post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, business or a related field. Advanced degree and/or certificates an asset. At least 10 years experience in corporate communications, media or public relations including employee communications. Experience in the healthcare sector and government relations is an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills and high personal standards to deliver highly responsive, quality and strategic results. Creative, professional, self-motivated and constantly looking to implement best practices in all areas of the communications field. Excellent project management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint computer software and a willingness to learn new programs.
