Provide leadership and direction to guest facing teams at Churchill Downs Racetrack including events, guest services, call center and food and beverage. Develop, manage and lead the pre-opening and opening requirements for the new hotel development scheduled to open in late 2021. Direct day-to-day hotel operations including Front Office (Front Desk and Bell/Door Services) Hotel Housekeeping, Hotel Sales and Marketing, Revenue Management and working closely with leadership of the adjacent HRM facility. Develop and ensure full compliance to Hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards. Coordinate with existing departments to outline requirements and responsibilities related to the new hotel opening. Directs and leads the preparation of short and long-term hotel business plans and budgets meeting company goals and growth objectives. Collaborates in creating, directing and executing hotel sales and marketing, revenue optimization, distribution strategies and initiatives to yield desired financial results. Develop a strong knowledge of local market (demand generators, competitor strategy and community impact/involvement opportunities). Participate in recruiting, hiring and the ongoing evaluation of team members. Ensure that team members receive effective and impactful ongoing standards of service and skills training to consistently deliver four-diamond rated level of service to guests. Create and maintain a professional, respectful and engaging work environment for hotel team members that fosters a Fun, Friendly, and Comfortable experience. Drive ongoing team member engagement/recognition initiatives. Establish and maintain open collaborative relationships with direct reports, team members, and all property divisions (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Gaming & Security). Liaises with the Finance Division to ensure strict adherence regarding company policies and controls. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Includes, but is not limited, to the following: All hotel operations and Racetrack Events, Guest Services, Call Center, Banquet Food and Beverage EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE 5+ years of Hotel General Manager (or Hotel Manager at big box) experience in full-service and/or lifestyle resort property Experience leading the design and opening of a new hotel property Experience operating in sports, conventions and large events Branded and non-branded hotel experience a plus Possess superior communication skills Demonstrated passion for hospitality and service Attention to detail and highly organized Self-motivated and results-driven Creative problem-solver and multi-tasker
