This position works under limited direction and is primarily responsible for responding to internal and external inquiries related to the company’s products and the regulations governing them; running Chr. Hansen’s overall registration activities in LATAM (with focus on Mexico & Central America); developing & maintaining knowledge of LATAM (with focus on Mexico & Central America) regulations including emerging issues and communicate regulatory requirements within the organization and communicating with government agencies on matters affecting our regulatory compliance Business Units: Natural Colors; Health & Nutrition (Animal and Plant Health); Food Cultures & Enzymes What would your role look like? Researches and prepares timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries regarding the domestic and international regulatory status of products, and product registrations. Advise business on regulatory requirements for supply/sale/import/export of products and ensure compliance of all formulation, ingredients, product with the relevant laws and regulation of various countries. Maintain regulatory commitments/documents provided to customers in connection with regulatory submissions in the LATAM region. Facilitate and support customers when necessary, in connection with product registration and other liaisons with local authorities Assists in the operation of systems and procedures to ensure timely and accurate data collection, maintenance and delivery of consistent regulatory information throughout the organization. Communicates with and act as a company liaison with government regulatory agencies (such as Cofepris, SADER, Health & Agriculture Ministry) and trade associations, in support of company products on all matters related to regulatory affairs. Monitors regulatory changes affecting company products and communicates to appropriate inter-company stakeholders. Obtain, provide and interpret regulatory intelligence and propose strategic recommendations, including contributing to the preparation of new regulatory guidance/legislation and comment on draft regulatory guidance/legislation wherever possible in collaboration with key stakeholders Supports the business unit division regarding securing registrations, certifications and regulatory dossiers for internal use and submission to government and 3rd party entities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read, write and speak Spanish and English. Ability to effectively communicate both in oral and written form. Possess a thorough understanding of international food law and regulations with a focus on Mexico and Central America. Demonstrate regulatory expertise to ensure ability to meet customers needs Must be a self-starter and be able to multi-task. Possess an inquisitive mind and the ability to redirect or reword inquiries to various agencies to attain the required information. Ability to work in close collaboration with cross-functional colleagues High attention to detail; ability to organize and prioritize assigned projects Ability to assess broad impact of decisions, and where necessary conduct formal and informal impact assessments in collaboration with the Business Units and with the guidance of the LATAM Regulatory Affairs Manager. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs. These characteristics are normally acquired through a university degree in a scientific or technical area with at least three to five years regulatory experience.
