The role of a support worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with learning disability isn’t just personal care, you could be taking people shopping, cinema, bowling, spending days on trips out and many more activities. Your role as a Support Worker [but not limited to]: · To participate in the shared implementation of support/care plans for individuals including provision for the physical and personal support needs and their emotional, intellectual and social well-being · To support service users accessing the community and to organise and participate in appropriate leisure or other activities outside of their own homes · To maintain, write records and reports on each service user in accordance with Company policies and guidelines. · To ensure that care plans are followed and important information is recorded when appropriate · To be aware of the procedures for taking appropriate action in case of an emergency Where would I work? Boxgrove House is a large detached property with its own separate day services building for relaxation, sensory, computer and creative activities. There is also an annex building which is a bespoke setting tailored towards an individual’s needs. There is a day-care office as well as a huge back garden that is safe and secure. Boxgrove House currently supports eleven people. The current group living here are a mix of male and female (2 men and 9 women), and they are an older, more relaxed group with severe learning disabilities and Autism. This is quite a calm home, but there’s lots going on! We are happy to support a whole range of activities. Currently the service users enjoy music sessions three times a week, weekly baking sessions as well as various arts and crafts activities that everyone loves getting involved in. What experience do I need? To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous experience working with people with learning disabilities or other disadvantaged groups.
