Human Resources Supervisor Temporary Opportunity – 18 months The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa (CAS) is non-profit community organization funded by the Government of Ontario, legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. The CAS is one of over 44 agencies across the province regulated by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and governed by the Ontario Child and Family Services Act (CFSA). We are currently searching for a dynamic and committed individual to join our Human Resources Team, to fulfill the role of Human Resources Supervisor. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Supervisor is responsible for implementing and maintaining Human Resource programs related to compensation and benefits, recruitment, retention and employee relations matters. The position is responsible for ensuring that the provision of Human Resources services are efficient, effective and reflect best practice standards. The Supervisor works collaboratively as a member of the Human Resources team to provide high quality services to all staff. As Human Resources Supervisor, responsibilities will include: Supervising and overseeing the work of a team of Human Resource Professionals. Coordinating the staffing process through the monitoring and development of recruitment and retention strategies to ensure effective staff deployment of all Society positions. Coordinating and advising on performance management, discipline and labour relations processes for unionized and non-unionized employees in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement terms of reference for non-union and management staff. Managing workplace grievances and acting as a lead in mediation and arbitration processes Providing human resource advice to Supervisors and Senior Managers regarding the management of employees and/or organizational changes. Developing strategies to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Reviewing and making recommendations regarding various programs and services delivered through the Human Resource function. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: University degree in Business Administration or a Human Resource related discipline. Certification as a Human Resources Leader (CHRL Designation); 5 years’ experience in various functional areas of Human Resources with direct Labour Relations experience Excellent leadership, planning, organizational and communication skills are required; Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities working with culturally diverse and Indigenous communities; Experience with conflict resolution strategies as it relates to the management/settlement of workplace grievances Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and creative problem-solving skills; Salary: $80,824 to $105,816, commensurate with skills and/or experience We offer a Health Spending Account to our Temporary employees as well as generous leave provisions such as 4 weeks of vacation after 6 months.
