Ensuring Chart’s Success… Conceives, tests, and evaluates new methods, materials, and operating procedures for the purpose of improving the performance, efficiency, and manufacture of Chart E&C FinFans air-cooled heat exchangers. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… Is responsible for understanding the operation of air-cooled heat exchangers and for conceiving and proposing new methods to improve their operation or manufacturability. Design new air-cooled heat exchanger products. Works with Chart E&C FinFans sales team, customers, and engineers to identify and refine potential R&D opportunities. Designs experimental test units to evaluate potential heat transfer improvements. Specifies equipment, instrumentation, utilities, etc., required for the construction and operation of said test units. Confirms that test units include necessary controls and equipment that may be required for safe operation. Develops test programs to evaluate new heat exchange methods and prepares experimental designs to assess the most efficient series of tests required to evaluate said methods. Conducts experimental test programs or supervises technicians in carrying out required tests. Analyses the results of experimental programs and prepares reports evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of tested methods. Develops heat transfer correlations and assists in the development of software for modeling and designing air-cooled heat exchangers. Uses analysis tools such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or finite-element analysis (FEA) to model design and operation of air-cooled heat exchangers.
