Champlain Regional College is seeking the services of an SOCIAL WORK TECHNICIAN to work in Students Services on a part-time replacement 3 days a week. FUNCTIONS Reporting to the Dean of Student Services, and working in close collaboration with the counselling team at Champlain Lennoxville, the incumbent will perform technical work in prevention and individual or collective assistance for students receiving services from counselling and adaptive services. Main Responsibilities 1. Meet individually with students experiencing difficult personal situations including, but not limited to relationship difficulties, behavioral issues, anxiety, addictions, sexual violence and mental health issues and refer to external services and resources, as needed. 2. In conjunction with members of the Student Services team, participate in weekly meetings for the preparation and implementation of intervention plans for individual students experiencing personal difficulties. 3. Document confidential student files and keep them up to date, noting observations and interventions. 4. Select and provide, in collaboration with the Dean of Student Services, online materials, awareness campaigns and on campus information and prevention activities and/or workshops to: Raise awareness amongst students regarding topics such as suicide, stress, anxiety, mental health and the importance of establishing a balanced student life. Provide strategies and tools for students to develop self-care and resiliency abilities. Inform students of available College and community resources, with a view to ensuring student success. In conjunction with the public awareness campaigns, collaborate with the Champlain Student Association and Recreational Activities Technician to organize awareness and prevention activities. 5. Establish a trusting relationship and connection with Champlain students through active presence during student life activities and at student residences. 6. Liaise with Champlain/Bishop’s University health clinic as well as external community resources (CLSC, CALACS, JEVI, Mental Health Estrie and others) regarding availability of services in English and ensure a smooth referral process for students. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS Education Must possess a diploma of college studies (DEC) in Social Work or in an appropriate speciality or a diploma or an attestation of studies, which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority. Requirements Must be able to communicate proficiently in English, orally and written. Must have strong French comprehension skills. Candidates will be required to submit to language tests. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidates will be required to submit to Word and Excel tests. The candidate must also possess the following: Must be discrete, confidential and professional. Must have strong organizational skills. Must be a team player and student-centered. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in the field of mental health.
