Champion has significant growth opportunities in capturing additional market share in both North America and internationally, specifically Europe and China. Summary Champion Petfoods, makers of ORIJEN and ACANA premium awarded pet foods has an outstanding opportunity available for a seasoned marketing professional to have major strategic and executional impact. Located in Boulder, Colorado, the VP will build and lead the US and global support marketing and innovation capability (ACANA and ORIJEN brands strategy, marketing plans, innovation and renovation roadmaps, advertising, and commercial capabilities) and instilling a culture based on accountability and results. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Vice President, Marketing will create and execute the overall branding plans, bringing new capabilities, insights and discipline to drive Champion Petfoods’ success to the next level in the US as priority leveraging existing marketing capabilities in Edmonton, Canada, and supporting development of global marketing (EU and China). Responsibilities Work in collaboration with the CMO to create an integrated marketing strategy and brand positioning that accelerates consumer demand, contributing directly to consumer acquisition, retention and revenue goals for the ACANA and ORIJEN brands Develop annual global and local marketing plans and budgets for marketing programs in the US and oversee disciplined execution in the marketplace Oversee implementation of the marketing strategy, including campaigns, events, digital marketing and PR Leverage a variety of digital and marketing tools and programs to seek out and engage prospective consumers and drive awareness and trial through the marketing funnel As a key partner in the company’s digital transformation, support development of new capabilities to elevate brand awareness and drive sales through digital properties Lead agencies in the creation and deployment of brand assets aligned with brands differentiated positioning Partner with Creative Services to create and improve brand guidelines, brand assets and advertising communication Lead close-in brand innovation and develop the marketing strategies and manage the communication for product launches across platforms and stakeholders (consumers and customers) Work collaboratively with Sales to develop creative, impactful strategies to strengthen results in regional markets and key customers Monitor and leverage market trends, competitors and industry best practices to identify ways to continuously improve and differentiate brands, their strategies, execution and measurements Work collaboratively with PMO, Finance, and International teams to ensure brands strategies and execution are deployed and measured successfully Requirements Passionate marketer with track record of driving powerful strategic thinking, experiential marketing, and results for quality brands. Known for innovative ideas, solid marketing fundamentals, thorough planning and flawless execution. Strategic and analytical, guided by data and results, but also highly curious and hungry to take outstanding brand equities to the hearts and minds of consumers. An engaged and energetic leader, highly collaborative, who is willing to roll up the sleeves to get the job done. Focused, flexible and resourceful, capable to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment that values and rewards team leaders and players. 10+ years of food or CPG marketing experience, including 3+ years leading a marketing organization Proficiency with traditional and digital marketing, field marketing, marketing communications and merchandising. Prior success managing a P&L and taking a leading brand to the next level of expansion and revenue growth A track record of success in devising strategies and implementing tactics to drive results. Solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods. Demonstrated ability to build, manage and mentor high-performance marketing teams. Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills. Passion and commitment to be part of a team of pet lovers culture that go beyond just marketing.
