The Network Engineer (NE) is part of the technology-based international Professional Services team to support the networks of dedicated CentriLogic customers. The NE will be responsible for the detailed documentation and assessment of all aspects of the customer’s network and be involved in solution design, deployment, support, and Network security and troubleshooting efforts This may involve performing ‘hands on’ network troubleshooting and maintenance, responding to client requests (e.g. applying firewall rules and implementation of configuration changes), deploying customer solutions, applying hot fixes, ensuring the integrity of the overall network and all networking devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers etc.), and create documentation, diagrams, policy and procedures pertaining to the customer’s network within the determined Service Level Agreement (SLA) terms. The NE assumes overall accountability for customer technical issues through maintaining communications internally as well as with our clients. In addition, the NE will provide 24x7 technical support coverage, assist with the planning and implementation of network infrastructure and policy’s, perform special projects and other duties as required. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Network Engineering and is based out of our GTA office. Required Experience & Skills University degree and/or IT Diploma from a recognized technical institution or equivalent Minimum 5 years’ experience for medium to large scale networks in a technical support role, designing, implementing and testing highly available wide-area and datacenter networks Demonstrated technical leadership and expert knowledge in data network design Proven experience with wide-area networking, global BGP routing, MPLS and datacenter switching architectures as well as a wide range of vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, PaloAlto & NSX Strong understanding of TCP/IP and routing/switching protocols. Experience working with security products such as firewalls, IDS devices and VPN’s Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and fault isolation abilities including sniffing network data traffic using protocol analyzers Validate network capacity, performance, and uptime to management In depth understanding and knowledge of LAN and WAN architectures. Experience with Network design, implementation, and management. Strong working knowledge of network technologies, particularly Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks routing/switching equipment, Cisco ASA, VPN, Nexus, 6500 Catalyst switches; 2600,3600 and 7200 series routers, Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, Juniper MX, EX. SRX series and PaloAlto firewall appliances Expert knowledge on following processes, procedures and documentation Clear, effective communication (written and verbal) is essential, including ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences and create effective documentation for other teams Must be willing to be on-call including evenings, weekends and holidays Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL processes and methodologies is considered an asset Proven ability to manage change and changing priorities Certifications are an asset – CCIE, CCNP-R&S, CCDP, CCNP-Security, JNCIA, JNCIP, JNCIE, ITIL, etc. About CentriLogic CentriLogic is a global provider of managed IT solutions.
