Literacy PD Specialist Role: Literacy PD Specialist Location: National Division/Department: Regional Operations Reports to: Center for PD Excellence, Regional PD Operator, Territory Vice President Direct Reports: NA Job Summary: Catapult Learning Literacy PD Specialists provide instructional support and coaching to leaders and teachers as they work to ensure each student is able to reach his or her academic potential in literacy. The Literacy PD Specialist’s primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices in delivering comprehensive reading instruction, in using data to analyze individual and school-wide trends, to improve the design and delivery of instruction and interventions, and to make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. Working with individual teachers and teaching teams during regularly scheduled school days, Literacy PD Specialists are responsible for modeling lessons, co-planning and co-teaching, analyzing data, reviewing student work and providing non-evaluative feedback on instruction. The Literacy PD Specialist takes a hands-on approach to improving instruction in Tier 1 and is knowledgeable about reading interventions for Tiers 2 and 3. The PD Specialist leverages a deep knowledge of research-based best practice and takes a hands-on approach to support educators across the content areas, and delivers engaging and exceptional professional learning experiences and job-embedded coaching support to improve teaching and learning and organizational performance. Responsibilities: Literacy PD Secialists should become familiar with regional standards and the materials that are core to instruction in partnership schools. Working with leaders and teachers on assigned PD projects, and under the direction of the Center for PD Excellence and regional Operations teams, Literacy PD Specialists support organizational change, professional growth, and student achievement: Deliver Job-embedded application coaching in Literacy Build strengths-based coaching relationships that are transformational Coach leaders and teachers in research-based practices in reading, writing and speaking standards, leveraging curriculum resources to meet the needs of all learners in becoming college and career ready Support instructional delivery across content areas by assisting teachers to make data-informed decisions about planning, instruction, and assessment Model effective literacy instruction for staff in various settings, including co-teaching Utilize various digital tools in the execution of site-based and blended coaching implementations Deliver Engaging and Exceptional Professional Learning Workshop Events in Literacy Deliver effective professional learning opportunities leveraging Catapult Learning’s catalog of PD module content in reading, wriitng and speaking Contribute to development and revision of professional development modules, products, and service delivery protocols in preparation for assigned events Contribute to PD Project Strategic Planning and Execution Activities Build/maintain partner-based team relationships Work closely with Catapult Learning’s Center for PD Excellence, Regional Operators, and partner leadership to design and execute PD project plans Assist schools with their understanding of Reading and Writing Assessment Practices, the analysis of School Data, and monitoring Organizational Goals consistent with PD project expectations Analyze diagnostic, common assessments and formative assessment data with various teams (leaders, teachers, department leaders,etc.) to inform individualized teacher and student plans When applicable, contribute to Quarterly Project Reviews and required school partner reports, including regular monitoring and adherence to PD project plans Embed norm-referenced and criterion-referenced assessment formats into regular daily literacy-based instruction and periodic assessment Assist schools with planning and preparing for appropriate, effective and timely administration of standardized literacy assessments Maintain a Professional Growth Mindset Participate in Catapult Learning professional learning opportunities through PDHub, Catapult’s online learning portal, the APL (Annual Professional Learning) conference, and other opportunities as assigned. Background: Master’s Degree in related Education field(s), i.e. Reading Specialist, Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy emphasis Minimum 5 years teaching experience with emphasis on K-12 literacy Minimum 3 years successful experience supporting schools to improve student achievement Experience in strengths-based coaching, leading and supporting teachers Strong record of helping students achieve academic success, with particular focus on Title I, English Learners, and Students with Disabilities. Demonstrated analysis of reading achievement data in order to understand, interpret and improve student performance Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) Model positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as being organized, consistent and reliable, understanding, excellent communication and presentation skills Evidence of successful team building skills Willingness to travel May require regional residence for large scale projects Job Type: Part-time Salary: $450.00 to $600.00 /day Experience: teaching: 5 years (Required) Education: Master's (Required) Working Days: Friday (Preferred) Monday (Preferred) Tuesday (Preferred) Wednesday (Preferred) Thursday (Preferred) Work Location: One location Schedule: Monday to Friday
