About The Service The Housing Options Service is a busy and challenging statutory service providing housing advice and assistance to those who are facing homelessness or are in housing need in Cardiff. About the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed individuals to work with the Housing Options service to help clients facing homelessness. Homeless Assessment Officers undertake homeless assessments and make legal decisions of the duties owed to clients presenting to the service. The key objective will be to prevent homelessness, and the post holders will be required to produce innovative solutions to help clients either to remain in their homes, or to help them find alternative accommodation. What We Are Looking For From You The post holders will need to have the skills to interpret and apply homeless legislation, team-working skills, the ability to produce innovative solutions and be forward thinking to help develop the service. The post holders will be required to provide excellent outcomes for vulnerable clients, and high quality customer service. Additional information There are 2 posts available: 1 x permanent and 1 x temporary until the 31st March 2021. For the temporary post: Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body. Experience of homeless legislation and working with the public will be an advantage. You may be required to work until 19:00 hours to meet the demands of a very busy service.
