JOB OVERVIEW: Reporting to the VP, Information and Technology, the Director, Enterprise IT is responsible for leading the nationwide enterprise IT function of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) in building the roadmap for the departments and organization’s future. The incumbent must be a strong lead with vision to continue transforming CCS’ IT infrastructure to be highly secure, enterprise class, well supported, documented and monitored, tightly integrated, high performing, stable, highly available, fault tolerant, current, flexible and recoverable. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: Lead the back-end IT infrastructure including compute (physical and virtual) and storage resources, IT security, hardware and software, data centres, hosting services, network and connectivity services, AD, Exchange Online, backup and recovery strategy, ITDR and BCP. Ensure effective recognition and utilization of staff to meet project priorities/scale and service levels Continuously identify skill opportunities and implement plans to close gaps in a timely fashion, all the while ensuring the team has the necessary motivation, tools and skills Establish and promote an IT culture and attitude that is proactive and raises the confidence level of the user community Drive operational efficiencies to maximize the end user experience and ensure service levels are achieved or exceeded Develop and report on departmental/team KPIs to effectively measure weekly/monthly and quarterly status Responsible for creating and managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between internal and external vendor partners. Facilitates audits working closely with various partners. Oversee IT operating and capital budgets, ensuring costs are accurately captured, and updates are provided in a timely manner. Accountable for continuously optimizing the overall operational costs and footprint Assess and recommend infrastructure needs, anticipate future needs and proactively identify relevant technical solutions based on strategic direction. Be responsible for ensuring the nationwide CCS IT infrastructure is: Well supported, managed and monitored Secure Stable Fault tolerant and highly available Current, regularly updated and future proofed Cost effective Documented As tightly integrated as possible Institutes select components of ITIL where necessary (e.g. Incident and Problem Management, Change Control, program of continuous improvement etc). Responsible for maintaining, upgrading, purchasing (and decommissioning as needed) IT infrastructure hardware (e.g.: servers, storage and firewalls) and software (e.g.: VMware) as needed following best practices (e.g.: Change Control) where appropriate. Supporting the work and responsiveness of the IT Service Desk team by providing third level support and expertise as needed. Developing RFPs and/or business cases and negotiating with third parties as necessary. Providing a safe and healthy work environment for team members and relevant stakeholders. Working in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations and reviews and complies with the Health and Safety Policy of CCS. Other duties as assigned. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field 10+ years in progressively senior leadership roles overseeing IT Support or Operations Management Comprehensive experience in supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the IT infrastructure of a nationwide organization. The proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring IT best practices are followed, all whilst leading and improving CCS’ IT infrastructure will be key to the success of this role. Broad and deep knowledge of: VMware, SAN technologies, Microsoft products and platforms including Active Directory (inc GPOs, etc.), Azure and Office365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Windows Server, WSUS, monitoring software (eg: SolarWinds), networking and remote access including IP/VPN WAN, LAN, VLANs, TCP/IP, iSCSI, fibre channel, VPN, Cisco, WatchGuard, HP and NetApp hardware, server hardware, backup and recovery technologies, IT Disaster Recovery planning. Significant knowledge of IT security solutions and trends including firewalls, pen tests and vulnerability assessments, IPS/IDS, NAC, email content and Spam filtering, Web filtering, cloud security, incident response plan development and endpoint encryption. Knowledge of VoIP and Unified Communications systems as asset. Prior experience of financial management of an IT team, including purchasing, budgeting, forecasting and budget review. Results-oriented with proven analytical, evaluative, problem-solving and strong follow-through abilities. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, follow IT best practices and CCS procedures consistently and accurately. Proven experience of prioritizing and delivering complex and competing projects. Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
