Cambrian College’s School of Business and Information Technology requires part-time Professors to teach in the Accounting program beginning in May 2020. Duties and Responsibilities The successful applicants will teach in one or more of the following courses: Accounting for Non-Financial Managers (ACC7300) – (4 hours per week): Students will explore the uses of accounting and finance information as required by managers in directing the affairs of business organizations. Managers require this information to plan operations, measure performance, control activities, and make effective decisions in order to achieve the firm’s objectives. In this course, students will concentrate on cost behaviour, budgeting, and the use of managerial accounting information for decision-making purposes. Taxation I (ACC1023) – (4 hours per week): Students will acquire a basic working knowledge of the Canadian income tax system. The students will become familiar with theoretical concepts and technical rules in the Income Tax Act, specifically those applicable to individual taxpayers, and learn to apply them to the determination of net and taxable income and to the calculation of income taxes payable. Students will use the knowledge acquired to prepare a personal income tax return using tax software. Qualifications Required Master’s degree in Accounting with a CA/CPA designation based on year assigned. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application.) Five years of relevant work/professional experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom. Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches as well as current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress. Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills. Ability to function within a team environment. Assets / Preferred Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
