About our Engineering Training Programme Our Engineering Training Programme (ETP) provides a unique opportunity to become a member of the Cadent Team. Over the 24-month programme, you’ll develop leadership skills, gain technical exposure and understanding, and experience professional development, through a combination of theoretical learning and on the job experience. You’ll study towards achieving a HNC in Mechanical Engineering over 18 weeks at Solihull college during the two years. Covering topics such as Engineering Design, Mechanical Principles and Managing an Engineering Project You’ll receive training from our expert trainers and be supported by a dedicated programme manager, business mentor and line manager. You will play a vital role in shaping the future role of gas and how we establish ourselves at the forefront of sustainable energy. Our community of trainees provide the perfect support network, pulling from their personal experience they’ll provide guidance and assistance and you’ll inspire each other from the very start. Once you’ve successfully completed the ETP programme, the role you move into will depend on which area of the business you work in. We’ll also support you in gaining your accreditation at this point too. Please note, we do have multiple vacancies across varied locations. About the Asset Strategy role The Asset Strategy team sits within our Safety and Network Strategy department and are responsible for shaping our asset management strategy to ensure we achieve our business objectives, meet our regulatory commitments and ultimately provide a safe and reliable supply of gas to our customers. This role is suited to individuals who have a keen interest in shaping the future of the gas distribution network, balancing cost, risk and performance in line with our customer and stakeholder expectations. Within this role you will: Support and develop high level asset strategies and support asset management plans to deliver improved safety, performance and efficiency Research into industry best practices and future of gas to develop asset strategies and investment plans to increase safety, minimise risk and deliver increased customer and stakeholder benefits for the current and future RIIO periods Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create investment strategies and plans that are achievable, realistic and risk evaluated Develop monitoring plans to ensure consistent delivery Develop strategic long-term asset management plans for Cadent’s 4 networks based on principles from the Institute of Asset Management Provide support for risk modelling scenarios and decision support tools and the improvement in our asset data to provide greater confidence in our decision making Drive confidence in our asset data through the use of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Data Analytics Identify Innovation projects to compliment strategic plans and support trail evaluations About You We’re looking for individuals from a STEM background who act with curiosity, courage, pride, purpose and ownership to join our team. Along with: Both GCSE English Language & GCSE Maths at Grade C and above / 4 - 9 (or equivalent) A-Levels or BTEC Level 3 in applicable STEM subjects Hold a valid UK driving licence High levels of personal and professional energy - you’ll have lots of drive and motivation too!
