We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Underwriter (Residential Mortgages) to join our Aveo Channel. In this position, you will take a customer forward approach when working closely with the Residential Sales team and our national broker channel. You will utilize your detailed knowledge of the non prime residential mortgage industry, conditions management, regulatory compliance and sound decision-making skills to adjudicate “non prime” and “non conforming” mortgage applications based on established guidelines and authorized lending limits while employing strong solution-focused communication skills to deliver your message. You will work within an end-to-end mortgage underwriting process to manage the mortgage application from the time of commitment to when all conditions have been met. Key responsibilities: End to End underwriting process Adjudicate information presented and address any discrepancies or inconsistencies Confirming appropriate due diligence has been complete prior to issuing a commitment Verify data to ensure it meets with company guidelines Prioritize deals in the workflow queue in order to maintain a 4 hour turnaround time Respond to questions, concerns email and phone calls within a 2 hour period from all clients with the intent to build and maintain relationships Provide our brokers with all mortgage options to assist in making an informed decision Correspond with mortgage brokers to attain outstanding documentation needed to complete requirements as stipulated on the mortgage commitment. Manage the files from the time of commitment to all conditions met Provide liaison and support for funders Extensive knowledge of the documentation required for all mortgage products Education / Experience / Skills: Demonstrated strong sound credit judgment Ability to provide alternate solutions based on product availability in the AVEO brand, including and not limited to non conforming lending. Experience with credit compliance review is preferred Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience Working knowledge of residential mortgage legal documentation 5 or more years of experience in the mortgage industry (residential mortgage underwriting experience is strongly preferred); Ability to understand financial statements Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications Extensive knowledge of the review process for all documentation Who are we?
