Provide support on a variety of environmental engineering projects with the water/wastewater and civil/mechanical engineering groups. Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to potable water systems; storm water systems; pumping systems, piping systems, HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems for wastewater treatment and water treatment facilities. Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables Assist with studies and alternative analysis Develop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for South Florida and State of Florida Assist with development of permitting plans and permit applications Duties may also include field activities and site investigations including: Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation Desired Skills and Experience: B.S. degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or related); M.S. degree preferred EIT preferred 0-5 years professional work experience Candidate must have strong verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in team environment Valid driver's license and good driving record required Experience and/or coursework in water/wastewater treatment and conveyance preferred Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) required Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD, MATLAB) preferred Experience using AutoCAD preferred Experience using ArcGIS preferred Experience using hydraulic modeling software preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential Previous related internship or professional work experience a plus but not necessary Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually are required Candidate should be versatile and interested in working on a variety projects supporting Engineering Services Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold. Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), safety glasses, etc. Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting critical construction operations (i.e. pouring concrete). Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified. Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
