Black Country Living Museum is a world-renowned heritage site, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Established in 1978, it aims to preserve areas of local history that are disappearing and tell the story of one of the very first industrialised landscapes in Britain. These are exciting times for the Museum, with record-breaking visitor attendance and an increasingly popular events offer. As if that wasn’t enough, to enable us to keep doing the things we do best, we are also about to embark upon the single largest development in our 40-year history - a £23m investment, taking our story into the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. We are looking for a number of Visitor Service Assistants to join our Retail & Admissions Team to help deliver an exceptional visitor experience. As a Visitor Services Assistant you will be required to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple areas including admissions, retail, and reception. You will engage with our visitors by providing a polite and friendly welcome, answering any questions they may have, and informing them of activities at the Museum that will enhance their experience. The role will entail selling admissions tickets and checking in groups, and you will be expected to confidently sell gift aid on entry to achieve targets. You will also be responsible for retail sales in our Gift Shop, therefore you will need to maintain a thorough knowledge of our products so that you're always on hand to help visitors. In addition to this you will ensure that all stock is correctly prices, rotated, and the shop is maintained to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have; A passion for customer service with a warm and friendly personality An accurate and detail focused approach to work, with the ability to work flexibly and effectively even when things get busy Previous experience of electronic point of sales systems and cash handling An excellent team player, but also able to work on your own initiative Numeracy and a good level of computer literacy The hours for these roles are on a casual basis, enabling you to have flexibility in your work life balance.
