OUR COMPANY: Here at Beryl we have a clear vision... to build a better world by getting more people in cities on bikes. Our aim is to be the UK's leading micro-mobility company, delivering financially sustainable shared schemes to UK communities. We care about safety, the environment, and beautiful design. Headed up by Emily Brooke, the British inventor and entrepreneur known for developing the Beryl (formerly Blaze) Laserlights used for Santander Cycles, our Head Office space is based in Bethnal Green, and is the creative hub of the Brand. It is here that critical product design decisions are made, supported by a best in class Tech Dev Department. Teams which support the infrastructure of the business also play a key role in our success, from Operations, Finance and People, to Business Development, Sales and Marketing. Our network of bike workshops are strategically positioned to support our local markets, all underpinned by a dedicated customer service team... Responsibilities Brainstorming system architectures with the rest of the dev team Working with design and UX teams Designing and implementing Python-based microservice architecture components Designing and implementing React-based server and web user interfaces Writing unit and integration tests Investigating and debugging issues raised in any environment Building and improving DevOps processes Contributing to weekly sprint planning Contributing to open source projects Required skills and experience At least 3 years experience building web applications and back-end development in python Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) Strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6), HTML and CSS Experience working with React. A candidate who has overcome the challenges of these two technologies past their basic usage, such as utilising React’s context API, asynchronous actions, and higher order components. Has developed containerised applications using Docker DevOps experience AWS/Google Cloud Experience building REST APIs Takes pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software A self-starter who can demonstrate that they can succeed working in a team that deals with ambiguity every day Nice to have experience Experience with PostGIS, or any geography-heavy applications Experience with NoSQL datastores (Redis, MongoDB, ElasticSearch) DevOps experience with Terraform/Salt/Ansible High-throughput realtime data processing with pubsub/queues/streaming data Has deployed applications using Kubernetes Experience with GraphQL/Apollo A DevOps mindset Has contributed PRs to open source projects
