THE ROLE This position provides you the opportunity to undertake a undergraduate qualification in engineering and learn a variety of on the job skills while you study. In this position you will be responsible for: Undertaking academic studies for the design and documentation of a range of projects; civil, public domain and structures for BVSC. Working on a range of engineering projects across a number of asset types including road and drainage infrastructure, water, sewer and waste services. Liaise with BVSC staff, other government departments, private business and the general public. Consulting asset owners and relevant stakeholders to in assist in preparing detailed project briefs and scopes. Assist with the Implementation of project plans, preparation of cost estimates and monitoring of project budgets. Assist in the management of Quality Assurance and Inspections related to assigned projects. ABOUT YOU We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is interested in pursuing a career in engineering within the Local Government sector. You will be an analytical thinker who can solve problems logically and be able to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders ensuring that engineering compliance is upheld from pre-construction through to commissioning. Applicants who can demonstrate the following will be highly regarded for this position: Eligibility for entrance into Degree level qualification in Engineering or related discipline. This is a permanent full time position over a 6 year contract position working 35 hours per week. Remuneration is T5 $805.50 per week as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5 % employer superannuation contribution. Selection Criteria Essential: Work in a manner consistent with BVSC organisational values and associated behaviours Essential: Demonstrated broad interest in civil and structural engineering. Essential: Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Essential: Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
