We are looking for an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professional to join our high-performing team to provide a wide range of geospatial services to our organisation and ratepayers. The role is for a fixed term of 12 months as cover for a staff member on maternity leave. About us The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for the sustainable management of the region's natural resources. We look after important functions relating to environmental protection and enhancement, safety and resilience, regional development including coordination of the regional land transport plan, and delivery of public transport. The Regional Council has a reputation for looking after its people. The Role As a GIS Analyst reporting to our Geospatial Team Leader you will; Be responsible for aligning the power of GIS to the needs of our organisation. Maintain close working relationships with internal and external customers. Deliver high quality maps and undertake spatial analysis to support decision making within the organisation. Build and manage online and mobile mapping applications to drive business efficiencies. Provide GIS advice and support to internal project teams. Manage corporate spatial data to ensure integrity, completeness and accuracy. Support the organisation by providing support and training to GIS users. The skills and personal attributes we are looking for are: A tertiary degree in Geography, GIS, Information Technology or equivalent. At least three years’ experience in GIS, Geospatial, Cartography, Surveying or another GeoMatics related field. A thorough knowledge of ArcGIS and other GIS packages. A strong customer focus. Well-developed written and oral communication skills. The ability to work in a team environment. Strong analytical skills and innovative thinking. Experience in developing and maintaining web based GIS solutions. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised, reporting and contributing to the effectiveness of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
