Barilla è un'azienda multinazionale italiana del settore alimentare, leader mondiale nel mercato della pasta, dei sughi pronti in Europa, dei prodotti da forno in Italia e dei pani croccanti nei Paesi scandinavi. Fu fondata nel 1877 a Parma come bottega che produceva pane e pasta da Pietro Barilla, discendente di una famiglia di panettieri. Alla guida dell’azienda c’è, da oltre 130 anni, la famiglia Barilla. Oggi l'azienda è guidata dalla quarta generazione della famiglia, ovvero i fratelli Guido, Luca, Paolo ed Emanuela Barilla. In questo momento il ruolo di amministratore delegato è vicario e Guido, Luca e Paolo agiscono come amministratori. L'azienda è a tutt'oggi il primo produttore italiano e mondiale di pasta, prodotti da forno (primo produttore italiano e terzo europeo), sughi pronti per pasta (primo produttore italiano). La distribuzione dei prodotti Barilla tocca anche i paesi nordamericani. L’assetto produttivo di Barilla si basa su 26 poli produttivi, tra pastifici, fornerie e mulini. I mulini di proprietà, controllati direttamente da Barilla, forniscono circa il 70% della materia prima occorrente alla produzione; l'azienda possiede e gestisce direttamente 7 pastifici: Pedrignano (PR), Foggia, Caserta, Thiva (Grecia), Bolu (Turchia), Ames (Iowa-USA) e San Luis Potosí (Messico) nei quali si producono circa 900.000 tonnellate di pasta l’anno, differenziate in 150 formati di pasta di semola e oltre 30 di pasta all’uovo secca e ripiena Barilla Culture Barilla, originally established in 1877 as a bread and pasta shop in Parma, is today an international Group, which is not stock-market-listed.
