The Field Service Engineer acts as technical sales and solutions representative for the company, provides technical guidance and direction to operations engineers, technicians and client personnel for the chemical recovery boiler/pulp & paper, and industrial boiler markets. Conducts site assessments and inspections, leads and assists in root cause analysis when required, develops technical solutions in partnership with customers and internal stakeholders and manages the implementation of such solutions on site. Provides technical guidance and direction to operations engineers, technicians and client personnel. Job Responsibilities include: Ensure compliance for self and others with B&W Target Zero safety philosophy at all times Work together with management to technically support the preparation of new business opportunities as required. Develop and maintain customer relationships Identify opportunities and focus on aftermarket growth through service/parts/upgrades Collects and evaluates field data Participates in field managed work, maintenance agreements and business development with guidance from In-Country Managers Prepare first class visit reports after outage in proper and timely manner Report any new opportunities observed and advise on most competitive technical solution Enhance sales activities and Business Development with guidance from Business Developers and in-country managers Participates in proposal development Prepares engineering studies Interacts with Customers, Vendors, and sublet vendors Develops operating instructions Supports technical product training for customers Prepares technical reports including service and special reports Acts as lead field engineer on OEM equipment startups, boiler inspections and condition assessment projects Complies with B&W code of conduct and ethics & compliance framework and training Qualifications Regional Coverage: Brazil and South America Person Specification: Education: Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering from college or university Portuguese as first language Language: Business level English language strongly preferred; basic knowledge Japanese preferred but not essential Proven experience in a similar position Hands-on type person as well as familiar with office environment Technical problem solver Computer knowledge and mastery of common software packages for office work. Willing to travel at short notice for the resolution of emergency issues as and when required Ability and willingness to travel extensively and be based on site for varying periods of time
