The current ongoing project is building a portable single axis atom interferometer which can measure gravity very precisely and help in exactly pinpointing hydrocarbon and mineral reserves helping ease the energy needs of the world. The apprentice will be working closely with the product development team, an interdisciplinary mix with prior experience in Atomic physics, biomimetic underwater robots, high altitude pseudo satellites and balloon satellites, and advised by leaders in cold atom physics and navigation systems. Responsibilities: Build and Debug electronic systems (data-acquisition systems, electro-mechanical devices, optoelectronics etc.) Work closely with physicists & engineers to build control systems and embedded software for the atom-interferometry system Design, manufacture and evaluate electronic circuits About you: An absolutely driven individual with creative problem solving skills, analytical mind, and persistence, ideally, demonstrated Able to program and debug in C, C++ or Python, with some experience in programming embedded systems Well-versed in basic electronics: knowledge of fundamental circuits and their operation Experience with PCB design (and familiarity with at least one EDA software), assembly and testing of analog, digital and mixed signal circuits Even better if you have: Worked in a technical student team, or an early stage company environment Worked on personal hobby projects (and can brag about them!) We don't care for degrees, but if you have studied Electrical /Computer/Mechatronics/Systems Engineering, or a related field, that’ll be delightful.
