We are currently seeking individuals to fill full time positions of Hatchery Worker in our Blaketown, NL location. Title Hatchery Worker Reports To Hatchery Manager, NL Summary The Hatchery Worker is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of the Hatchery equipment and building as well as the removal of chicks from hatchers and transfer of eggs from setters to hatchers. The Hatchery Worker will be responsible for boxing eggs and egg transfers at the NL hatchery. The employee in this position is responsible for culling day old chicks. They are also responsible for equipment and work area clean up. The hours of work and days of work will vary as required. Core Competencies Customer Focus Time Management Accountability and Dependability Ethics and Integrity Communication Job Duties Boxing of eggs and egg transfers Handling of chicks and eggs Cleaning and disinfection of equipment using appropriate method (high pressure, mop, washer, etc.) General cleaning and set up of equipment and rooms Assisting with building and equipment maintenance as necessary Follow safety rules and guidelines Assist with after hours checks and putting eggs in incubators as required Lifting boxes of chicks approx 12-15 lbs (5-7 kgs) Pushing and pulling stacks of chicks approx 120-150 lbs (54-68 kgs) Preparation of chicks for delivery Work area clean up Processing room clean up, carrying buckets short distances approx weight 15 lbs (7kgs) Follow safety guidelines and procedures Requirements Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong commitment to health & safety Ability to work in a fast paced environment Ability to work in a team environment Experience in the agricultural industry preferable Ability to work with live poultry Grade 12 or equivalent preferred Work Conditions Dusty at times with strong odours Exposure to hot/humid work conditions Repetitive work Must be able to work flexible hours, could include holidays and weekends While we thanks all Applicants, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
