Array is currently seeking a Mechanical Drafter to bring our concepts and designs to life! The Mechanical Drafter will develop solid models and drive the manufacturing details for mechanical components and assemblies throughout the product lifecycle that are required to push to release. This position is responsible for understanding the practical application of engineering science and technology - including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment—to produce precision technical 2D and 3D mechanical drawings. Duties and Responsibilities Efficiently produce detailed, accurate design drawings and specifications for mechanical parts, equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using SolidWorks (CAD) software. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery. Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machine. Interpret what engineers and others describe, and develop into drawings. Consult with engineers and others to design, layout or detail components and systems and resolve design or other problems. Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data assessment factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Modify and revise designs to customers’ revised applications. Position instructions and comments onto drawings. Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems. Check all output for accuracy, including peer reviews of other’s work product. Other duties as required. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Good mathematical skills. Ability to create and use proper math formulas and spreadsheets as required to solve design problems. Ability to ascertain the kind of tools and equipment needed to produce mechanical components. Ability to effectively communicate and convey information verbally and in writing. Speak, read and write English fluently. A second language is a plus. Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, including models, drawings, specifications and guides. Familiarity with PDM or PLM systems highly desirable. Familiarity with ECR, ECO and ECN actions a plus. Sharp attention to detail. Education & Experience Demonstrable SolidWorks expertise required. AutoCAD experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Proficiency in other basic MS Office software a plus. Associate degree, minimum. 2-5 years mechanical drafting experience required.
