The Process and Manufacturing Engineer, provides design, process and manufacturing support to our entire facility located in Toronto. In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are: End-to-End Design & Development Prepare Engineering action requests, change orders, revised drawings. Coordinate with different departments such as QA, engineering, sourcing for implementation of change orders Design & development activities constitute 80% and production support 20% Lead design and development of new assembly fixtures/stations, test equipment, tooling to improve current manufacturing process, cycle time and plant effectivity Provide support for assembly fixtures/stations, test equipment, tooling to improve current manufacturing process, cycle time and effectivity Review drawings of parts, products to identify issues related to manufacturing & assembly (DFMA) Provide feedback to product design team to update design accordingly for both existing products and new products Design electro-mechanical test equipment, assembly stations. This includes: scope definition, specification development, concepts design & selection, detail design, FEA/ engineering calculations, CAD modelling, drafting, selection of OEM items, design of fabricated/ machined parts, system design, BOM preparation, supplier quotations, procurement of items, installation and commissioning on site and hand-off to production Process and Manufacturing Maintenance Support the preparation of work Instructions, PFMEA, control plans, inspection checklist for existing & new manufacturing processes Improve current manufacturing, assembly and testing process along with enhancing product quality and cost reduction Implement and maintain tools & fixtures design in CAD systems and FEA programs to ensure a high degree of standardization and design data integrity Prepare, maintain, modify and own the plant layout for the entire plant. Hands on approach on setting up new manufacturing/ assembly cells. Re-layout existing cells to optimize material flow Support daily manufacturing, assembly and testing operations by troubleshooting existing processes, machines, process parameters, modifying current processes Prepare preventive maintenance task schedule and spare parts list for new & existing production machineries. Coordinate with maintenance department for PM tasks Role Requirements Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Design CWB leve-1 or level-2 certification and knowledge on ASME section 4 & 8 is preferred P. Eng. designation considered an asset, but not required 5+ years of experience working on design and development of assembly stations, test equipment, factory automation systems in a manufacturing industry, ideally machine building, fabrication or assembly environment Full understanding of GD&T and its application per ASME Y-14.5 including its measurement methodology to be used Proficient in using any of the CAD software, preferably SolidWorks for modelling and drafting Creative problem-solving skills, conflict management within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures) Excellent knowledge of lean manufacturing, material flow, assembly processes and plant layouts Experience in using ERP system for creation/maintenance of bill of materials Ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well thought-out recommendations. Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action. Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results.
