WORKING TITLE: Facilities Director (Officer IV) JOB #: 2374 DIVISION: Administrative Services FIRST REVIEW DATE: February 21, 2020 CLOSING DATE: All positions are open until filled. POSITION SUMMARY: The Arizona Supreme Court is seeking an experienced Facilities Director to manage the State Courts Building in Phoenix and other locations around the state. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the important work of the Court by preserving and maintaining properties and ensuring services meet current and future needs to maximize our public service and mission. Reporting directly to the Division Director, this position is responsible for management of facilities staff and budgets, and oversight of a full range of building services for all Supreme Court locations including maintenance; custodial services; OSHA compliance; office administration; print shop; mailroom; and shipping and receiving. Responsible for ensuring facilities meet requisite safety and health codes and remain presentable to the public at all times. Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs. Leadership and operational oversight of all facilities functions will include planning, design, construction, licensing, maintenance, repair and energy management across the organization. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert to management on strategic planning related to facilities and assume some business continuity duties. The scope of responsibility is significant and includes the Courts building at 257,000 square feet and two off-site facilities managed through leases. Additionally, the Judicial Education Center in Phoenix has 15,000 square feet and the Defensive Tactics Training Center is 3,900 square feet. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in a related field and eight or more years of facilities management experience. Must have staff management and development experience. Thorough knowledge of health and safety codes, OSHA regulations, fire/life safety, and emergency procedures, business continuity planning, building certifications, and specifications. Working knowledge of building trades to include electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry. Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and project management skills. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, judges, justices, and court staff, and present timely solutions to address facilities management issues. Experience managing building security and in-house security staff helpful. Will have direct and indirect staff reports of 20 or more. Travel of up to 5% in-state – primarily day trips. Ability to use technology, MS Office, security systems and databases. SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
