Support the student(s) for whom they are responsible both in and out of the classroom, with academic and social engagement, through an effective student-keyworker relationship and implementation of appropriate strategies and interventions. Keep SENCo informed of practice and progress with identified students through formal and informal meetings. Maintain communication between home and school with regular parental interactions, both formal and informal. Where necessary, engage with relevant external agencies, also providing support for specified student(s) Attend training and implement practice relevant to the specific needs of identified students. Support the teaching and management of student learning through: Supporting the school curriculum, embedding numeracy and literacy, by implementing effective strategies, techniques and resources for supporting learning Provide support for learning activities within lessons, monitoring the effectiveness of resources and adapting where able and necessary Develop and implement effective interventions to meet the student(s) individual needs. Escort and assist student(s) on educational visits and during enrichment activities, both in and outside of school Support for the Student: Support the academic progress of the student(s) by contributing to development of their academic, physical, emotional and social development. Contribute to the health and well-being of the student(s) by ensuring a safe environment, and following policies and procedures at all times Support with the personal care of the student(s) where necessary, and engage in relevant training to develop knowledge and skills in this area. Support for the School: Regularly communicate with parents of the student(s) through email, phone calls and parental meetings Communicate information with relevant staff, external agencies and authorities. Set a good example to the students through presentation and personal conduct Manage their own performance and continuing professional development by: Taking responsibility for their own professional development, setting personal targets through the appraisal process. Understanding their professional responsibilities in relation to school policies and practices. Maintain a developing awareness and understanding of the specific needs of students with whom they work. This is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities of this post.
