The Position: The Claims Handler’s responsibility relates to claims generated by Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd in all territories (predominantly the UK and Ireland). Duties include the following: Handling claims associated with Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd policies in the Financial Lines business, specifically Professional Liability. Delivering a high level claims service. This involves regular communication with claims managers, underwriters, brokers, coverholders and insured clients. Assisting underwriters in the implementation of their overall underwriting strategy. Managing service providers involved in the claims function on a day to day basis. Assisting in the Management of TPAs. Job Responsibilities: 1. Technical Expertise Adhering to the Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd reserving philosophy and ensuring claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner. Handling losses within handler’s authority levels, seeking appropriate manager’s authority when required. Handling and processing several binder and open market losses, particularly in the SME PI UK line of business Delivering concise, clear and accurate reports, such as Audit Reports, Large Loss and Risk Alert Reports. 2. Managing external service providers Managing relationships with brokers, Insureds, Coverholders and third party providers Providing feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e. lawyers and loss adjusters, TPAs and MGAs and ensuring adherence to SLAs Carrying out regular audits of TPAs and MGAs and holding regular meetings with key managers for the purposes of ensuring adherence to the relevant SLAs and maintaining an effective commercial relationship with these parties 3. Claims Strategy Involved in the delivery of the department's business goals and objectives. Representing Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd in the London market. Required Skills/Experience: Good technical knowledge of Professional Liability business, with particular emphasis on SME PI business. Extensive knowledge of coverage/policy interpretation issues arising out of PI claims Excellent Report writing skills Understanding of Binder and bordereaux management Ability to communicate across all areas of an organisation and work collaboratively in a team Strategically minded Strong decision making and negotiations skills Ability to multi-task and be highly organised Desired Skills/Experience: Manage external service providers Manage relationships with brokers, Insureds, Coverholders and third party providers (some based in Italy) Feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e. lawyers and loss adjusters and ensuring adherence to SLA’s Assisting in the training and auditing TPAs on a regular basis (some overseas travel required) Excellent technical knowledge of PI, D&O, Gross Negligence and Public Entities class(es) of business Excellent knowledge of coverage issues/policy interpretation Excellent Report writing skills Ability to communicate at the highest levels across all areas of an organisation Strong influencing and decision making Ability to multi-task and be highly organised Education: University (preferably a Law degree) / relevant professional qualifications The Company: Arch Insurance is a global insurer offering our clients superior coverage and service.
