Background Apiam Genetic Service currently provides a specialised reproductive service to the sheep and cattle industries. AGS is in three locations; Dubbo, Deniliquin and Tasmania. We operate two Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (DAFF) export approved semen collection centres. We have a team of highly experienced reproductive veterinarians and technicians providing artificial insemination and embryo transfer services to seed stock producers. We also store, maintain and dispatch a large inventory of genetic material to domestic and international clients. Role The role is a unique and multi-faceted. The elements of the role are: Administration. Maintenance of the genetic material. Maintenance of the genetic material inventory records. Livestock handling. Cleaning. Assisting with minor laboratory procedures. Locate, pack, dispatch and track shipments of genetic material. Assist in the collection and submission of pathology samples. Semen collection Responsibilities Ensure the effective management of the genetic material inventory. Pack, unpack, receive, dispatch and track genetic material. Ensure all records of the genetic material transactions are recorded. Monitoring the genetic material storage tanks. Ensure all material is maintained under the strict standard operating procedures of the storage facility. Administration. Assist in the management and debtors and creditors. Manage documentation for biosecurity and export compliance. Ensure records of semen collections are complete. Engagement and management of external suppliers and clients. Facilitating rostering and payroll with head office. Field work with our veterinarians. Contribute to a safe and enjoyable working environment. Contribute to a positive organisational culture and be comfortable working with the dynamics of the role, including working with livestock and their owners. Committed to the goal of providing excellence in reproductive services and supply of genetic material. Ensure exceptional communication with clients that is timely and professional. Perform any additional tasks as directed by the centre manager. Key Criteria Very High attention to detail. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and willingness to adopt new IT solutions. Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) To be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. The Position: The position is casual Will be located at Apiam Genetic Services, 166L Obley Rd, Dubbo, 2830. The position will comply with the Pastoral Award. The hours will vary from week to week but not exceed 76 hours in a fortnight period. Flexible working hours that may range between 6.00am and 9.00pm.
