We hire Interns that are passionate about sustainable clean energy. Our interns support the team in all aspects of government and regulatory affairs. The team is currently hiring one intern, who will be based in our Charlottesville,Virginia headquarters. Some travel may be necessary. The intern will assist the team with monitoring key state policy initiatives affecting the renewable energy industry across the company’s portfolio footprint. The intern will also contribute to research and analysis of policy trends and developments. Previous experience in government/regulatory affairs, campaigns, or public affairs is a plus but not necessary. We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills but who is willing to learn and gain experience in government processes and the renewable energy industry. Candidates who possess a strong personal commitment to renewable energy, business, and/or rural economic development will be well suited for this role. RESPONSIBILITIES Conducting policy research Monitoring bills and legislative proceedings related to renewable energy Entering and maintaining data in various data bases and systems including but not limited to NationBuilder, Smartsheet, and Salesforce Monitoring of social and traditional media As needed, speak to groups, classes, and organizations Draft memos, talking points, letters of support and other documents for renewable energy for various audiences QUALIFICATIONS Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a focus on political science/politics, journalism/communications, or general liberal arts Previous experience in government/regulatory affairs, campaigns, or public affairs a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to quickly become familiar with NationBuilder, Smartsheet, and Salesforce Strong passion for renewable energy Attention to detail Excellent organizational skills and the ability to keep track of multiple projects at once Excellent written and verbal communication skills Calm and professional demeanor Willingness to travel Must be able to work in Charlottesville, Virginia BENEFITS Company Paid Parking
