Under the direction of the Network Engineer, Information Systems, manages and maintains the telecommunications services of Antelope Valley Hospital. Essential Duties:Senior Telecommunications Technician: Programs, maintains and troubleshoots telephone switch and associated power supply Orders and keeps on hand all hardware and software necessary for the operation of the telephone switch Maintains and repairs existing 1A2 telephone key equipment Maintains accurate telephone plant records Installs, maintains and troubleshoots all telephones: single line, multi-line, analog and digital Installs, maintains and troubleshoots 1A3 telephone key systems Maintains and program the hospital Voice Mail system Manages cellular phone resources Manages pagers, in-house and outside Installs and troubleshoots fax machines Installs modems Installs and troubleshoots all special circuits that operate through telephone cable: code blue, ATM, etc. Installs and troubleshoots Macintosh Local Talk circuits. Conforms with Affirmative Action guidelines. Manages interface between Telecommunications Department, it's customers and vendors Serves as order center for all telecommunications needs: Receives requests, researches and advises, purchases and installs, records and documents Maintains, monitors and updates call detail recording database system Generates monthly telephone usage reports for off-premises and in-house customers Reviews records, and authorizes payment of all telephone and telephone related bills, assuring that the billing is correct and the proper cost center is charged. Non-Essential Duties: Advocate the capabilities and usage of the telephone switch for solutions to communications problems Using telecommunication engineering principles: plan outside cable runs, equipment location, equipment utilization, etc. Act as telecommunications liaison with physicians and other off-premises customers Serve as telecommunications consultant to the Hospital Research and advise of avenues for increasing telecommunication revenues Monitor telecommunication expenses and implement ways to reduce costs Understand the Hospitals' direction and ensure Telecommunications compatibility with that direction. Skills and Abilities: Knowledge or lA2 key telephone systems Digital telephone experience required Knowledge of telecommunication cabling and termination required Data transmission over twisted pair cable desirable Supervisory experience desirable Experience with Macintosh and PC computer systems and software Ability to adhere with AVH Leaves of Absence Policy Ability to adhere with AVH Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy Ability to adhere with AVH Recording of Hours Worked Policy Ability to adhere to the department dress code Ability to organize work and establish priorities Ability to expand on own initiative in performance of duties Skill and ability to follow the telephone etiquette/standards Conforms to AVH Standards of Excellence Ability to function effectively under pressure and meet time parameters Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, managers and other hospital staff Ability to adhere to the normal standards of courtesy and conduct as defined under the rules of hospitality at AVH Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient, hospital and department information Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations Safely and effectively uses all equipment necessary to carry out duties Ability to interpret and function under hospital and department policies and procedures Conforms with required and appropriate Joint Commission requirements Conforms with and supports hospital quality assurance and improvement guidelines Ability to participate effectively in department and hospital staff education Display a willingness to work as a team player Ability to give and support the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction at all times Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVH Board of Directors Required Licensure and/or Certifications: Certification on the NEC NEAX 2400 IMS - MMG, IMGx / xh / dxh and 2000 IVS telephone switches. Working Conditions: Office environments, telephone switch room, crawl spaces, in-ceiling work.
