Description We are on the lookout for a Wind Engineer who is able to successfully support the development, structuring and operations of wind projects implemented by a global player in the renewable energy industry. Your support on technical aspects and advice regarding environmental conditions for wind project opportunities will make you the perfect person to analyse and report on projects operational data. Your key responsibilities will amount to ensuring continuous input is directed towards design improvement and optimisation of the wind farms throughout all phases of the facility's lifecycle. You will be required to identify and oversee wind met mast locations for collecting data for wind project sites in line with IEC compliance. Your time management skills coupled with your depth of understanding of wind energy will allow you to conduct accurate and timely AEP reports based on information uncovered through met mast data. With strong analytical thinking skills, you will conduct uncertainty analyses and support environmental authorisations based on various noise and visual impacts. In addition, other technical documentation and contracts such as PPAs and Connection Agreements will need your review and approval. Your background in wind engineering will enable you to undertake various technical tasks including selecting wind turbine material suppliers and conducting micro siting and CFD analyses for projects which are located in complex landscapes. Calculating facility power curves and leading technical due diligence activities will come naturally to you as you support the entire design process on wind energy projects throughout the developing world. JOB ID: 32290 Education Requirements A degree in Electrical / Electro-Mechanical Engineering is a must A Master’s Degree or further tertiary education in a renewable energy-related field will be preferable Experience Requirements A minimum of 6 years’ work experience focused on wind modeling Experience in WaSP and CFD analysis is NOT NEGOTIABLE You should be well versed using AutoCAD and Google Earth mapping applications as well as weather data sets to succeed in this role Applicants with experience designing/modeling utility-scale wind projects will be prioritised - all others will NOT be considered! Knowledge of other languages spoken throughout Africa will be ideal Advanced knowledge of contractual agreements related to energy projects as well as an understanding of local utility interfaces and stakeholders is a must You should be an analytical thinker with an ability to logically prioritise your tasks With a passion for the renewable energy industry and the technologies you work with, you will exhibit high energy and be motivated throughout your daily tasks Whilst you should be able to work independently, your communication skills should enable you to work within a multifunctional team.
