(https://alloy.co/about/) ---------------------- Why we're hiring ---------------------- We are looking for a Director of Engineering to help us maintain and scale an amazing engineering team, culture, and product. You will work directly with the CTO to execute a vision for the future of our engineering team - how we hire, how we grow and develop our existing engineers into future leaders, and how we work together to make the trains run on time. -------------------------- What you'll be doing -------------------------- You will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers, assisting them to deliver complex technical solutions across a range of teams. You are comfortable directing, planning and coordinating team resources as well as developing new and enhancing existing processes. Reporting into the CTO, this role plays is integral to the successful growth of the team as well as wider company performance. ------------------------------------------ As the Engineering Director, you'll: ------------------------------------------ Design engineering hiring practices, conducting interviews and finding the most talented and diverse engineers for Alloy Hold regular 1:1s with engineering managers and skip-level 1:1s to provide guidance to all members of the team Lead the mentorship and growth for the engineering team Suggest and work together with teams to implement process improvements to stay on track and regularly ship the best and most impactful features we can Hold engineering teams accountable for goals and be the shepherd of a metrics-driven culture Participate in planning cycles and work with product managers to help implement projects on time Communicate technical and product decisions to the right people, resolve blocking issues, and keep our development machine humming Help create documentation for our engineering processes and culture Contribute to the culture, community, and safe environment of the engineering organization --------------------------- Who we're looking for --------------------------- As Alloy's Engineering Director, you bring with you: 8+ years of engineering experience, at least 4 of which should be in an engineering leadership position and experience managing managers Strong people management philosophy for managers and engineers Irreproachable technical skills; your team should look up to you as a mentor Experience hiring engineering teams and developing existing teams through onboarding, training, and coaching Very organized and methodical with a focus on project management and taking projects from inception to release and maintenance Previous experience in high-growth, venture-backed product companies Humble - agrees with the philosophy of servant leadership; you lead by pointing people in the right direction and being there to help support them along the way, not by micromanaging or demanding Extra credit: Experience in regulated industries We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately.
