About the role Alexandrina Council is searching for a qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join its Community Safety team as a Community Safety Officer on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Team Leader of Community Safety, some of the key responsibilities will be to undertake the delivery of professional and timely assessment and advice on matters that relate to: The Dog and Cat Management Act (and associated Regulations) Fire and Emergency Services Act (and associated Regulations) Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act (and associated Regulations) Road Traffic Act and Australian Road Rules (and associated Regulations and Acts) Expiation of Offences Act (and associated Regulations) Local Government Act (and associated Regulations) and the Council's By-laws. In delivering this it should be ensured that customer service levels are maintained and Council's vision and attributes are adhered to. About You Working in a diverse environment, the successful applicant will take a pro-active approach in the delivery of the Community Safety Officer function of council. You will have extensive experience in the Community Safety area and a wide range of demonstrated experience in working in a regulatory environment. You will be well versed in dealing with public and industry professionals and have sound knowledge in the use of computer based development systems (e.g. GIS) database management and reporting functions. Accreditation as a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) is essential to be considered for this role. A current Fire Prevention Officers Accreditation would be viewed favourably. You will also have: Demonstrated ability to provide efficient, proactive, informative and responsive service to all customers, consistent with legislation, regulations, Council policies, vision, aspirations and core values. Demonstrated experience in providing technical expertise and advice to Council, external organizations and the community on Community Safety issues. Ability to interpret and apply accurately relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes and guidelines. What's in it for you?
