Role Identity: CAD/CAM MANAGER Reports to: WORKSHOP Manager Supervises Junior staff as required Vision Statement Develops Creative Build concepts Deadline driven See’s ideas come to practical reality RESPONSIBLE FOR ensuring that the customer concepts & briefs are interpreted & drafted so that internal build elements are agreed for both internal & external clients. Produces construction diagrams, Airfix assembly drawings and floor plans for project assembly. Can develop 3D renders where necessary. Elements involved: Liaises with Designers/Clients /Internal Set Builders to interpret their requirements, & develop appropriate construction methods & tooling Import info or redraw software files including Vectorworks & AutoCad software Develop CNC files entering correct parameters board thickness, tool paths toll Check for errors in software Export job program to machine Liaise with and assist machine operators Maintain records of stock equipment & custom jobs for future reference & re/use Ensure all drawings have dimension notes & relevant details File drawings according to standard procedures in Alchemy Print drawings where required Maintain log hours where needed Proactively check details with Internal & external clients to ensure needs are met Develop efficient practises whereby minimal assistance required from construction personnel Supervise & train juniors in CNC & Autocad software Ensure Software is enabling full use of CNC machine and building methods to fullec\st potential Key Skills Experience in CAD programs Experience in AUTOCAD programs (2D &3D) Experience in Vectorworks Knowledge as an illustrator Knowledge of machining principles. Knowledge of woodworking practises. Flexible are 'can do‘ attitude to suit the requirements of internal and external clients. Computer experienoe - Outlook, Excel 8, Word. The ability to manage multple tasks and meet deadlines Internal Contacts Project Managers, Construction employees Salesmen External Contacts Suppliers & Clients/Prospects This position is very much a hands-on role with the focus on enabling the most efficient & cost effective build methods to be employed consistently. Main Activities The Project Designer enables translation of a concept/idea into a tangible project that Alchemy delivers for its clients. Project Designer meets with clients & internal stakeholders to develop ideas into workable project drawings that align to the scope of work and the budget allocated. Project Designer illustrates these ideas with practical 3D visuals and line drawings that translates the scope of work in detail across all Alchemy departments i.e. Print, Production, Logistics, Project, Sales. Project Designer has the confidence and the in-house support with technical & building techniques supplied by the Project Manager or the Production Department in relation to how a drawing may need to take shape due to the complexity of a build drawing requirement. The Project Designer will be the connection between Sales, Production and CNC to provide feedback on finishes, construction concepts & creative elements for clients and internal services where required. Client approvals (with relevant Design input), supply of final drawings & treatments for internal approval, plus manages further discussions directly with the Client / Project team and or Workshop. Creating working drawings and illustrations or designs to bring manufacturing clarity to enhance workshop build efficiencies. Produces smart CNC designs with the aim to create cost effective processes in manufacturing, so to enable Design to contribute to a return on investment. Detailed line drawings and layouts to support the installation process with instructions i.e. “Airfix” that acts as a guide for the Logistics department so to bring greater efficiency for stock allocation for packing/loading and onsite installations.
