SUMMARY This internship position will participate as a valuable member of the engineering team. Candidate will participate and provide support on various engineering design and construction projects that support capital improvement projects as related to the operation and maintenance of the Pittsburgh International Airport and the Allegheny County Airport. RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in field inspections to ensure compliance with design drawings and specifications. Provide field inspection reports to document construction activities. Review design plans, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with the contract documents. Participate in construction progress meetings and department staff meetings. Participate in weekly operations construction coordination meeting. Review pay application request along with certified pay rolls. Participate in pre-bid and preconstruction meetings. Review contractor bid submissions. Participate in bid tabulation, award document preparation, agreement document preparation and contract close-out document review. Actively participate in a leadership capacity on a summer project with other department interns. Performs other related tasks as assigned or required. Must currently be enrolled as a second year undergraduate from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater. SUPERVISION EXERCISED/ RECEIVED None/Receive direct supervision from Vice President, Engineering, Director of Engineering, and/or Engineering Project Managers. CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the intern is seldom exposed to moving mechanical parts that exceed those of standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. DRUG TESTING Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and without individualized suspicion.
