Acres Enterprises has an over 40-year history in general, industrial, and civil construction. With its headquarters in Kamloops, and an office in Kelowna, Acres’ work extends from the interior to the northern regions of B.C. The Acres difference is in our people, process, and technology. One project of note is the Gardengate Learning Centre in Kamloops – a project that is near and dear to us. The non-profit horticulture program through Open Door Group offers a space of healing and recovery to those living with addictions or mental health conditions. Acres recently completed it’s new 2,200 sq. ft. facility, which is a major upgrade from it’s original 700 sq. ft. building. Our team was committed to giving back to an organization that gives so much to the community. Along with volunteering hours to help finish the project, Acres also made charitable donations to the group. Our team also volunteers with the Kamloops Food Bank on a regular basis, dedicating a Saturday every two months to organize food in the warehouse. Project Update - Barkman Concrete Manufacturing & Distribution Facility A sharp looking project in Merritt! The Barkman Concrete Ltd. Manufacturing and Distribution Facility continues to take shape. Our team is nearing completion on electrical and mechanical work in the production facility and offices prior to establishing a kiln enclosure. Flooring and final finishes in the offices will also take place over the next couple of weeks. The remaining civil works, including site grading and asphalt, are set to commence mid-March. Project Update - New Afton Mine Underwater Dive An exciting day for our Industrial team working on the New Afton Lake Intake Station project. A big thank you to Inland Divers Underwater Services for carrying out an underwater dive to establish the ground and lakebed drop off conditions as our team builds a new water intake for New Afton Mine. Project Feature - U-Haul Moving & Storage Facility 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Undertaking a general construction project right from its infancy stage to completion is what Acres does best. Today, we are featuring U-Haul’s Moving & Storage facility in North Kamloops – a project our Acres team is incredibly proud of and was able to complete 100 days early. The construction consisted of a three-storey structure with a building footprint of over 30,000 sq ft. This included a large warehouse, locker storage, hitch and receiving bays, and showroom. Acres accelerated the schedule by self-performing all civil works, including earthworks, storm detention systems, watermains, sanitary, site paving, and landscaping. Cost reduction was also achieved by using alternate materials that not only met but exceeded the design intent.
