SUMMARY As the Director of Accounting and Finance for Abound Credit Union, you will be engaged in the challenging and rewarding environment of the organization’s accounting, reporting, and financial analysis program. The position’s responsibilities include managing the accounting system, adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis functions of the organization. To be successful, this person will need to manage multiple projects, have a keen eye for process improvements and efficiencies, stay up-to-date with regulatory changes in accounting, follow investment markets, and adhere to sensitive timelines. The position’s responsibilities require a person who is detail oriented and can learn and change with the industry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Supervises Accounting and Finance Department personnel to ensure that appropriate levels of training, performance, accuracy, and accountability are present. Oversees and manages the Credit Union’s month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reconciliation, close, and reporting processes. Manages the Credit Union’s investment portfolio through portfolio analyses, recommending purchases and sales, and overseeing day-to-day treasury and liquidity management. Maintains the Credit Union’s Individual Retirement Account (IRA) program by providing employee training, assisting retail employees, completing year-end reporting, and staying apprised of Internal Revenue Service and other regulatory requirements. Proactively searches for methods to improve efficiencies in processes within the Accounting and Finance Department. Prepares and submits various reporting to regulatory agencies (i.e. Federal Reserve Form FR2900, the NCUA Form 5300, etc.). Assists with the preparation of the Credit Union’s annual budget and monitoring of periodic budget to actual results. Participates in annual audits and examinations by overseeing preparation of materials, providing necessary data, and implementing findings as directed. Assists in management of the Credit Union’s ALM position through analysis of various reports and analyses. Complete other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned. The list of essential duties is not exhaustive. It may be supplemented as necessary from time to time. QUALIFICATIONS 1. REQUIRED A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college. Ability to operate a personal computer with high level of proficiency in such software applications as word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email with emphasis on Excel. Ability to effectively communicate Credit Union products and services in order to cross-sell. Must be able to work in a participative management environment, to include inter-departmental support and self motivation. Must be able to express oneself clearly, both orally and in writing. Extensive knowledge of accounting processes and procedures. Must maintain professional demeanor in all situations. 2. DESIRED Previous supervisory experience. Previous experience in an accountant level position. Previous experience in financial reporting. Previous experience in a financial institution setting.
