Your Role: The Security Manager leads a team of 24/7 Security Officers and develops and maintains the day to day security measures throughout the Park and Zoo. This position is responsible for recruiting and training security staff, developing work schedules, assigning work tasks, developing and ensuring APC security protocols and requirements, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. The Security Manager must be familiar with the latest security tools and technology required to run a safe and secure public space. This position will also be responsible to oversee and manage the external custodial contract and security vendor contracts, ensuring that the contract vendors are compliant with the terms of the contract and are meeting APC standards. Key responsibilites include but are not limited to: Lead administrator for the CCTV system and for the door and Access Control Software, as well as oversee the Radio System and manage the Alarm Systems including the Intrusion Alarm Program and the Fire and Smoke Alarm System. Plan, develop and implement various security related programs including the Park Patrol Procedures, Crisis Management, Physical Security, Information Protection, Emergency Responses and Incident Management. Evaluate and perform risk assessments for all properties/activities in the park and zoo and create, monitor and evaluate security department SOP’s. Create, manage and monitor the security and custodial budgets ensuring timely reporting to Senior Manager of Facilities. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the unit, related to the issues of the security and recommend corrective actions and measures as well as summarize critical incidents reports and escalate as required. Manage all payroll actions for the Security department. Record, track and monitor the development and training requirements of security staff. Develop, maintain and implement an ongoing set of professional development activities for the security officers including the creation of a security manual. Support the Senior Manager of Facilities and various APC departments to achieve security requirements. Liaise with local law enforcement, medical emergency response teams and act as the First responder and chief fire warden in emergency situations. Criminology) supplemented with additional leadership and management training. 5+ years of experience managing security or law enforcement professionals. Must currently hold a valid Security Guard License in Manitoba. Must hold a valid class 5 Manitoba Driver License. Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position. Considered a Strong Asset: Previous experience in a law enforcement capacity and/or security is a strong asset. Proven experience in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for security professionals. Technically adept and experienced in video surveillance. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances. Ability to motivate staff and foster a team environment within the Security/Custodial Department and other business units.
