ASME generates approximately $115 million annually from the sale of products and services and provides a wide range of mission focused programs and activities. We are currently looking for a Publishing Coordinator, Conference Publications in our New York office. Reporting to the Manager of Conference Publications, your day-to-day responsibility is the coordination of editorial, administrative, and production processes associated with the publication of content generated by ASME’s 30 plus conferences annually. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Monitoring accepted papers and follow through on copyright, formatting, and other author information issues to resolution; verify copyright and final papers according to established standards Performing production and administrative functions related to the publication of conference content in all media Assisting in the publication of presented conference papers on The ASME Digital Collection, reviewing volume and issue information, and post-pub quality check Maintaining and updating content of Digital Collection Proceedings gateway pages and subpages Working with department staff in support of print publications of the proceedings as required including issuing pub memos, updating CMS information, etc. Ensuring integrity and conformance of all processes to prescribed ASME policies regarding publication/copyright/permissions etc., and in accordance with ASME style and procedures Interacting with conference organizers, authors, vendors, and ASME staff in other departments Meeting production deadlines and predetermined schedules Assisting in the monitoring of help boxes, responding to queries promptly The position requires a bachelor’s degree or additional equivalent experience. A minimum of three years' publishing experience in print and electronic media with hands-on working knowledge of Web applications. Knowledge of HTML, XML, FileMakerPro, Microsoft Office suite, InDesign, Quark is preferred. Excellent proofreading, writing and communications skills are required, as is the ability to work independently and problem solve effectively. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
