The role: Due to continuing growth, we are now looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to strengthen our team providing wheelchair maintenance, deliveries and collections to service user’s homes across the region of Derby. A full driving licence is required and you must be willing to work a flexible day. The salary package includes overtime and covering emergency call outs, which may include weekends on a shared rota basis. Owing to dealing with vulnerable people the position will be subject to a full DBS security check for successful candidates. The general responsibilities will include: Be responsible for the delivery, collection, and installation and repairing of wheelchairs in service user’s homes and associated locations across the local region. Understanding and demonstrating the correct functionality and safe installation of items, repair and replace any damaged or faulty stock items. Appropriate and accurate processing of all paperwork. Ensuring vehicle maintenance, including safety checks. Follow correct PPE regulations and compliance with infection control processes. Participating in the on-call rota (with an enhanced allowance during this period). Required skills: The ideal candidates will: · Live locally and within a commutable distance of the service centre · Have a maintenance/mechanical engineering background, preferably with experience of DC electrics although this is not essential. · Must be prepared to spend the majority of their time in the field be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done in order to support the needs of our service users · Demonstrate safe driving practices. · Demonstrate empathy and resilience in what can be quite challenging situations. · Have good communication skills and are well presented. · Be physically capable due to the nature of the work as it involves lifting heavy wheelchairs · You must have held a full UK driving licence for at least 3 years with, no more than 6 points and had no serious convictions. · Be self-motivated and able to work alone. · Strong knowledge of the local area would be a distinct advantage.
