In the past 10 years we’ve focused our energy in growing our truckload brokerage business while expanding our services in ocean transportation to the Jones Act trades of Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska. Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and effective Surface Transportation Operations Manager to join our truck brokerage team in our headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the operational duties for both the customer service teams as well as the carrier sales teams. You will manage will manage the operations team as well as participate in all aspects of our day-to-day operations. You will be the point of command to analyze problems and produce new solutions. You’ll also be expected to assist in providing pricing to the commercial team. You’ll utilize our internal resources and systems to ensure you are operating efficiently and most of all maximizing the highest level of service and gross profit. Scope of Responsibility Guides or directly supervises employees to effectively identify capacity with partner carriers and cover freight needs for customers in a profitable manner. May guide or manage customer service and support personnel to ensure excellent customer service and support, ensuring proper customer and partner carrier retention. Trains and develops subordinates or others on team. Manage, execute and train employees on spot quote/price process for their branch. Builds freight volume from existing customers. Maintain and build effective relationships with customers. Develop and manage a network of outside carriers to ensure adequate capacity for their assigned market. Negotiate with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability. Ensure customer satisfaction and adequate service levels where freight is picked up and delivered using safe, reliable carriers. Manage all freight in transit by obtaining adequate updates from carriers/drivers to monitor movement and ensure on time delivery. Meets or exceeds margin and revenue goals for their assigned branch. Position requires full-time attendance. Essential Skills Excellent customer service and strong written and oral communication skills. Solid organizational skills. Ability to multi-task & prioritize. Detail oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access Congenial, outgoing team player, with a positive attitude. Fluency in a second language is a plus but is not required. Experience and Education Bachelor's degree preferable in Transportation and Logistics or related field but not required. 5 or more related years of experience in the truck brokerage industry is a must. 3 to 5 years of management experience in the areas of operations, customer services as well as a good understanding of cargo pricing and general industry knowledge about domestic trucking in the USA.
