Our AGS Cambridge team is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to meet the challenges of an established manufacturing operation, as well as new product launches. The right candidate is an individual who is keen to learn and grow in our dynamic environment. *This is a 9-10 month contract position* BASIC FUNCTION: Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will support the HR function in managing the day to day HR activities with a strong focus on Payroll, benefits Recruitment and Staffing for the Cambridge facility (AGS and e2z). PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Supports positive employee and labour relations by providing advice and guidance regarding Company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Key resource for the employees and retirees regarding the information and administration of the Company's group insurance benefits, pension benefits and deferred profit sharing plan. Assist with employee relations issues by investigating questions and/or concerns. Support the HR Manager with the plant's disability claims administration and case management, including both WSIB, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability claims. Coordinates and communicates unionized employee job movements within the plant, including job postings, layoffs and recalls. Organize and schedule training sessions as required by the plants training matrix. Maintain employee training records for IATF16949 compliance. Conducts the new employee Human Resources orientation training. Supports the Environmental initiatives in the Plant. Acts as the key HR resource for the Part-Time Temporary worker and Student programs in the plant, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, as well as working with the Management team to ensure completion of regular performance evaluations. Responsible for completion of payroll functions in a timely and accurate manner, including preparation of ROEs, hiring, layoffs recalls and terminations. Completes all required payroll documentation and submits to corporate payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Responsible for the entry of HR data in the weekly WBR and monthly MBR reports. Supports the administration of the employee suggestion and service recognition programs in the plant. Records and tracks absenteeism and disciplinary actions for unionized employees. Assists with drafting and distribution of employee communication within the plant. Organizes and coordinates employee recognition events. Administers the vacation and floater day approval process for unionized employees. Responsible for accurate and timely management of employee records. Performs any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Human Resources role. Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field. Completion of, or working towards, the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset. Claims management, including management of WSIB claims is an asset. Experience with employment legislation and regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong knowledge of people management, coaching and leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively interface with various stakeholders both within the organization and externally. Approachable, positive, enthusiastic and solutions oriented. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Strong computer skills, experience with payroll and timekeeping software is an asset.
