Primary Function: Provide technical/troubleshooting assistance, general product information, warranty assistance, and parts order processing on product that requires extensive product knowledge. The primary customers are end users, general contractors, service professionals, facility maintenance personnel, architects, engineers and other professionals responsible for ensuring equipment is specified adequately and functional at all times. Technical Specialists work to assist callers in repair rather than replacing equipment. HVAC Technicians, Electricians, Avionics Professionals, Auto Mechanics, Commercial Maintenance Technicians, Boiler Technicians, Chiller Technicians, Professional Plumbers, and other skilled tradesman have performed well in this job. Although, anyone with mechanical aptitude and high standards of performance can excel in this role. Responsibilities: Serve as the primary contact to our company for current and potential customers/consumers. Receive calls from end users, service professionals and others to assist with the identification of the source of problematic conditions involving water heating equipment (primarily tankless type product), related equipment, and installations. Remain current with technical aspects of tankless (residential and commercial/industrial) water heaters and related equipment. Remain current with codes affecting water heating equipment and installations. Make warranty related decisions for expensive residential & commercial/industrial water heating and related equipment. Provide reference numbers, as applies, to ensure warranty coverage. Provide specification information for callers considering purchase. Assist customers with sizing water heating and related equipment based on facility needs Utilize drawing system to view specifications about a product; example switch pressures. Assess caller’s abilities and refers non-service professionals to service providers when needed. Refer callers for purchasing. Document caller, installation, and product information. Provides support for residential equipment in addition to other water heating equipment. Checks availability of parts. Processes part orders – warranty & sales. Reviews proofs of purchase for legitimacy. Qualifications: One of the following three options (1) Bachelor’s degree in any field, OR (2) Associate’s degree and minimum 4 years of field experience in a mechanically related field, OR (3) 6 years of field experience in related field Experience working on commercial HVAC equipment or commercial water heaters and boilers preferred, but not required Ability to be trained on and understand National Fuel Gas Code, National Electrical Codes, National Building Codes, and ASME standards Aptitude to understand the design, function, installation, operation and repair of gas water heaters and boilers (or gas furnaces/HVAC equipment) Strong customer service mentality and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
